WASHINGTON — American Honda Motor Co. is recalling practically 1.2 million automobiles within the U.S. as a result of the backup digital camera won’t show a picture whereas in reverse.
The recall covers the 2018-2023 Honda Odyssey minivan, 2019-23 Passport midsize crossover and 2019-22 Pilot midsize crossover.
The rearview digital camera picture in these automobiles won’t seem on the show due to a defective Media Oriented Methods Transport communication coaxial cable connector. As such, the affected automobiles fail to adjust to federal security requirements for rear visibility, based on a NHTSA recall report made public Friday.
Honda advised NHTSA it had obtained practically 274,000 guarantee claims associated to the problem between Might 2017 and June 8, 2023. The automaker has not obtained reviews of accidents or dying.
A Honda spokesperson didn’t instantly reply to a request for remark.
TE Connectivity in Troy, Mich., provides the connector, based on the report.
To repair the problem, sellers will set up a straightening cowl over the automobile cable connector.
Sellers had been notified June 16. Homeowners can be notified beginning July 24.
